We have gone through great lengths to directly match as many courses as possible. If you do not see a course or your institution, once admitted, provide your syllabus and course information to your academic advisor and we will review the course for potential direct credit. Below are definitions of abbreviations you will find on your credit report.
Direct Credits:
Credits given when an external transfer course is evaluated and found to be a direct match with an IU major or elective course.
Example: Ivy Tech ENGL 111 = ENG-W 131
Undistributed Credits:
Credits given when basic requirements for transfer are met (grade C or higher from a regionally accredited postsecondary institution); these have the potential to count as direct, general education, subject elective, or elective credits for an IU major.
Example: Ivy Tech ACCT 207 = BUS-UN 200
Non-transferable (NTRN) Credits:
Credits earned elsewhere that do not meet IU requirements for a degree. Credits may not be given for many reasons, such as the course grade was below a C, at a remedial level, or not from a regionally accredited institution.
Example: Ivy Tech MATH 015 = NTRN
