Transfer students must minimally present records with 23 transferable semester units for admission to Saint Mary's College of California. Successful candidates typically have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher. Students should have 60 or more UC transferable semester units to transfer with junior status. All courses must be passed with a grade of C- or higher to be transferable. The maximum number of units transferable from a two-year college is 64 semester units. All courses designated as UC transferable are transferable to Saint Mary's College of California. All transfer applicants must have completed the prerequisites of Geometry and Algebra 2 with grades of C- or higher.
Saint Mary’s College Core Curriculum
Saint Mary’s College Core consists of three major groupings of student learning – Habits of Mind, Pathways to Knowledge, and Engaging the World – each containing four learning goals.
Critical Thinking, Shared Inquiry, Written and Oral Communication and Information Evaluation and Research Practices. These learning goals are met via Saint Mary's College Collegiate Seminar program and English Composition requirement.
To be completed at Saint Mary's College. We recommend that students take at least one course per year which emphasizes critical thinking, shared inquiry, or written communication, in preparation for Collegiate Seminar.
English Composition (2 courses)
Take either ENGL 1A or ENGL 1B
1) Successfully completing level 003 of any foreign or classical language taught at Saint Mary's.
2) Three years of high school language grade 'B' or higher.
3) Score of three or higher on an Advanced Placement Language examination.
4) A passing score on the TOEFL examination for international students.
5) Completing course through level 220 in a language at Laney College.
The following Laney College courses are currently being accepted as fulfilling lower division major requirements at Saint Mary's College.
St Mary's BUSAD 10 has no equivalent at Laney College.
St Mary's EES 92 has no equivalent at Laney College.
